18Due to its special function, shunt resistors should pay special attention to the selection of resistance accuracy when used in precision electronic products such as instruments, meters, and measuring equipment. If the accuracy is not sufficient, it may lead to a significant difference between the current passing through the shunt and the expected value, which directly results in significant measurement errors and loses the significance of the measurement. Similarly, for other precision electronic products, due to their high requirements, it is best to choose resistors with high precision.
Taking a resistor with a resistance of 4.7 Kohm (kiloohms) as an example, the most common resistor on the market is a 5% precision resistor, which is sufficient for general use. However, for precision electronic products, shunt resistors, sampling resistors, and other functional products, it is far from enough. We should choose high-precision Jabixin surface mount resistors. Accuracy can be selected according to requirements, including 1%, 0.1% accuracy, 0.5%, 0.25%, 0.05% resistance, and 0.01% accuracy resistance.
At the same time, the temperature coefficient, also known as the temperature drift TCR, is an important parameter that affects resistance changes and shunt current. If the temperature drift TCR of Kohm level resistors is several hundred PPM, like accuracy, it cannot meet high requirements. Therefore, according to product requirements, choose 5PPM, 10PPM, 15PPM, 25PPM, 50PPM (for TCR temperature drift knowledge, please refer to Jiebixin Resistance Network), etc.
If the resistance of the shunt resistor is less than 1 ohm, which is in the milliohm range, then a low resistance sampling resistor, such as a Jetion sampling resistor, can be selected. The resistance range is between 0.0005 ohms, 0.5 milliohms, and 1000 milliohms, 1 ohm.
